Stefan Martin from Killybegs Mariners SAC reports on the fishing around Donegal Bay…

flounder

14 July: What a great evenings fishing at last night’s summer league outing. West Donegal in all its splendour with tropical white sands and artistic sky’s above. With a high tide start fishing down into the high water banks it was Marcus that got off to a flyer with short casts getting the flounders but as the tide receded a trio of Darragh, John and Declan found the range with flounders to 37cm and turbot to 29cm in single and double hauls. With Declan in the lead he reeled in a counting Turbot that would of gained bonus species points but it got off at the waters edge and on lines up John got a bonus species dogfish to claim the win. Drama.. great fun out again and enjoyable when the fishing matches the settings. Longest fish cash prize was won by Daragh McGuinness with a 37cm flounder and 2nd place cash went to Declan McGettigan and 1st place cash was won by John Cunningham. 13 anglers fished. Well done to all.
