Recent reports about salmon fishing on the River Boyne at Navan have seen the salmon get the better of the anglers on many occasions over the last few weeks. However, things have changed over the last few days and 5 salmon have been taken in the Navan area with all of the fish being reported to have been over 10lbs in weight. The best fish recorded was taken by Tony Lyoness from Navan who hooked and landed a fine 13lb fresh run fish (covered with sea lice) on a Flying C with a single barbless hook. The fish was subdued after a twenty minute fight which included a number of heart stopping jumps. It was then photographed and well resuscitated to ensure that it had fully recuperated before being released. A number of salmon have been sighted showing in the River in the Navan area.
