Recent reports about salmon fishing on the River Boyne at Navan have seen the salmon get the better of the anglers on many occasions overĀ theĀ lastĀ few weeks. However, things have changed over the last few days and 5 salmon have been taken inĀ theĀ Navan area with all ofĀ theĀ fish being reported to have been over 10lbs in weight. The best fish recorded wasĀ takenĀ by Tony Lyoness from Navan who hooked and landed a fine 13lb fresh run fish (covered with sea lice) on a Flying C with a single barbless hook. The fish was subdued after a twenty minuteĀ fightĀ which included a number of heart stopping jumps. It was then photographed and wellĀ resuscitatedĀ to ensureĀ thatĀ it had fullyĀ recuperatedĀ before being released. A number ofĀ salmonĀ have been sighted showing inĀ theĀ River in theĀ NavanĀ area.
