Bernard Devenney of the Dundalk Salmon Anglers Association reports that there are great expectations that the next few days should see a greater number of Salmon being caught on the River Fane. The recent rain has brought the river level up again however with more settled weather forecast for the next week and high tides coming this weekend the main run of Salmon should arrive. Water conditions are excellent and Inland Fisheries Ireland staff report that Salmon have been going through the counter at Stephenstown. During the last week anglers have caught Salmon right up as far Magoney which is above Inniskeen and with water levels dropping increased numbers of Salmon should be caught during the coming weeks.
