Andrew Ryan, Clonanav Fly Fishing tells us:

Over the weekend August 25th and 26th we held a Spey casting course at Fortwilliam estate on the Blackwater. The course was a huge success with a marked improvement in everybody’s casting. Water levels were high which were not ideal for fishing conditions, however the main focus on the course was to improve casting technique.

Fortwilliam is a fantastic setting and was ideal for such an event.  Set in beautiful scenery close to Lismore in the heart of the Blackwater valley. The fishery comprises of 3.5 miles of double bank fishing divided into 5 beats.

The emphasis over the weekend was improving and learning to spey cast. Casts covered inclluded single and double spey, circle C, Snap T, Snake roll, and off both shoulders.

Water conditions were high, however a few fish were seen and one sea trout land!
