Ross Macklin reports on a great result for the prospecting angler…

Boom! The whiskered one, AKA Sidney Kennedy, has the power to draw in the biggest and baddest pike and what a day he had. Sidney had 8 pike in three hours from the a great venue on the Lee System and all on the fly. The best was a pre-spawner trumped the catch and would certainly bring a smile to any anglers face.

Sidney had been driving around likely looking spots surveying new hunting grounds when he saw a scatter of baitfish at edge of some reeds. He quickly parked the car and made his way to the water’s edge. On his fourth or fith cast it seemed he had hooked a submerged fence post or stump, but then the fish shook itself and all hell broke loose.
The cracker fell to a frog hopper lure… and indeed when the frogs are spawning frog imitations do work and Sid’s fantastic capture earns the LRAS guide a big pat on the back.
