The weather conditions today Friday 4th January 2013 on Lough Ramor in Virginia, Co Cavan were mild for January with temperatures registering 10 to 11 degrees on the thermometer but the light NW breeze upped the chill factor considerably.  A number of anglers pitted their skills against the wily pike in Virginia during the course of the day. Water levels were well up in the lake and the water is suprisingly clear. Among the anglers having a go were well known anglers Ray McElhenney from Laytown and Liam Kane from Dublin. The lads best fish of the morning was a fine 17lb 5oz fish which was taken by Ray on a deadbait. Pike anglers fished at a number of locations around the lake but the fishing was tougher that in previous weeks. A number of jacks were also taken.
