The Tralee Bay SAC headed up to the Shannon Estuary for a competition last Sunday. Fishing in the Glin area, 19 anglers braved the sweltering heat and bright sunshine on what was a day for shades and sunblock..
Unfortunately, the fish were also seeking shade somewhere, as catches were not as prolific as expected, despite a bright start to proceedings as a couple of decent ray were landed early doors.
Anglers had to scratch about for wrasse, gurnards and a few baby ray as the competition progressed, and tackle losses also mounted up from the rough ground. But it’s not often we get to fish in such balmy conditions, so few were complaining.
