Its the last day of what has been a disappointing month of January at the Drowes fishery, with no further fish reported since opening day. One fish was lost from the Meadow last weekend and another fish lost from the Blackwater during the week but otherwise the past week has been unremarkable apart from the extreme weather conditions which have seen strong wind, hailstones, torrential rain and thunder and lightning, sometimes all in a single afternoon.
The water level has risen this morning to 0.8 metres on the gauge following particularly heavy rain over night and will likely rise further towards the weekend. The weather outlook is for further unsettled conditions, turning colder over the weekend.
