Ghillie/Guide Vincent Appleby reports on the recent fishing in the Lough Currane area.
/2/13 Lough Currane was fishing hard, with a North cold wind blowing, there were a few boats manipulating but sadly only the spent Salmon i.e. Kelt department was producing.
/2/13 Here is your the weather report, wind SE light and overcast with light and at times heavy rain, on the Game fishing front my Noble Anglers failed in all departments.
/2/13 No reports of any real rod benders, so you can say all anglers failed miserably in their duties, wind SW and overcast with light rain all afternoon.
/2/13 There were 3 boats manipulating there Lures, and begging my Noble Salmon to sing the Hardy national anthem, but alas my Noble Angler couldn’t hit the right note or the right line, need I say more. Wind NW light with the odd shower.

/2/13 Lough Currane came alive with the sound of the Shimano reel, singing its national anthem today on the south side of the lake, when renowned local Gillie Mr. Mike O’ Dwyer, caught a fine 7.5lbs Salmon on the troll, and the crack didn’t end there, because Mike, headed straight for the Waterville Inn, to claim the Paddy Carey Memorial Cup from the Landlord, Mr. Damian Duff and his good wife Sally, for bringing in the first Salmon into the Waterville Inn, and I can tell you the pints were flowing like a spate river.
/2/13 There were no boats fishing the North side and for good reason there was as strong SSE wind blowing and what boats were out on the South Side failed Miserably in their duties. Wind as already stated and overcast all day.
/2/13 Lough Currane was at a standstill, and for good reason there was a strong SE wind blowing. Wind as already stated, and overcast.
/2/13 Alas the same results as yesterday in all departments, need I say more.
/2/13 You can say with out any fear of contradiction my Noble Anglers failed miserably in their duties in requiring my Noble Salmon. Wind SSE fresh with reasonable cloud cover.
/2/13 Lough Currane was on the wild side, with a strong ESE wind blowing and what boats that did venture out, failed as usual, so all I can say is no comment.
That is your ration for this week, from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery, no spin no fly’s just facts.
