Brendan M Peppard reports from Ballyduff Bridge Fishery on the Munster Blackwater:
The water is dropping again although fishing conditions are still good with water clarity excellent on all four beats. It had been somewhat coloured up until the middle of last week after the heavy rains of two weeks ago.

One of our regular clients,’ Tiger Tooth’ Pengally from Cornwall    U K, had a tremendous day last Sunday while fishing with one of our resident ghillies, Connie Corcoran, upriver on our Ballincurrig and Magners beats.  There they landed nine Salmon during the course of the day, all estimated to be between 5 and 6 lbs, all on the fly and all returned.
They  fell to a fly of Connie’s own making.
On Monday at Ballyduff Gary O’Shea, a guest from Dungarvan landed a fine fish of 8 lbs. quickly followed by another even bigger though a little coloured which was returned. Both these were caught on spinner as Gary had earlier tried the fly without success.
I omitted to mention that the fish I caught last week was net marked so I was doubly lucky.
We’ve noticed a number of coloured fish on all the beats so another spot of heavy rain might not go amiss.
