Fishing in Donegal Bay this week was reasonably good with two off the local charter boats , the Bundoran Star which operates out of Bundoran pier and the Prospector which works from Mullaghmore both reporting good fishing for Pollock , Coalies , Wrasse and an odd Codling . The Prospectors skipper Peter Power also reported a number of Basking Sharks around Innishmurray , one off which showed itself perfectly jumping clear of the water .. The best lure of the week this week was the Orange Shamrock tackle jellyworms which accounted for many of the fish caught . Local angler Boris Siegal had a nice catch this week with a class specimen sized Bollan Wrasse while fishing onboard the Bundoran Star . The Fish was weighed on a certified scale at 4.77lb and is to be registered with the Irish Specimen committee . Boris also had a specimen Smoothhound last year . There are plenty off Mackeral in the bay and there have been reports off some tope being caught also .

On the shore this week fishing has also been reasonably good . Marks on the Northern side of the bay are producing some nice Ray , small Conger , Dabs , Flounder and the odd Trout . There was mixed reports from Tullan strand this week with one group of anglers on Tuesday having a great session with Flounder up to 38cm , a few small Turbot and plenty of trout , one of which was a whopping 3.5lb weight . The following day three anglers fished for three hours and drew a blank , but that’s fishing . Three of the French anglers that were spending the week in the area had a great Day on Bundoran main beach , catching 8 nice Trout between them . They reported the fish to have been from 0.75lb up to near 4lb in weight . They were all caught on small sandeels from Cartys mounted on single barbless hooks and were all released safely . Two Swedish anglers reported catching a nice Turbot on the silver strand on the northern side of Donegal Bay which they described to have been the size of a standard frying pan .
