On Saturday, 15th June, a party of anglers from Counties Dublin and Kildare and England set out from Killala Harbour at 10am to fish Killala Bay on board the Leah. Fishing was slow to begin with but steady, with many pollack caught and released. Coalfish were the next species to surface, with the best weighing around 4lbs. Mackerel were scarce with only approximately four dozen caught on the day. A number of pouting were also caught as were a couple on nice ling, with the best weighing around 8lbs.
