Last Sunday I met a few local Angling enjoying a few hours pike fishing on Slevins Lake. It was hard going and Eddie Hughes of Edgesworthstown had the only pike on the day. Eddie was fishing with his brother Gavin who lives here in Mullingar, and the lads really enjoy their fishing. Eddie featured in the prizes some weeks back in the Derravaragh Anglers Christmas Pike competition.
Also on Slevins were Eddie O, Donnell and Pat Finglas, Pat was unlucky on Slevins and had a run on dead bait but the fish dropped the bait. Static dead baiting over the winter Months accounts for some huge Pike, and I have received a few photographs of super pike caught recently. Unfortunately they are from mobile phones, and the quality is not good enough for print.
