Just received a report from two anglers who had fished Lough Muckno from the boat on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th December. The lads only boated one pike of 3lb on Sunday and the two other boats that they managed to speak with had blanked. Northerly light winds left it bitterly cold.

Monday was totally different! The wind had shifted to a southerly breeze and slightly stronger but still under 10mph. The lads boated 5 pike from various locations around Black Island, Crane Island and Church Hill. It was still bitterly cold but with proper clothing it’s not a problem. The heaviest pike caught was around 9lb. All the fish were taken on various lures including toby, shad and soft plastics.
