David Gauduchon from De la Plume Voyages in France visited Carrickmacross recently with a group of fly anglers. Guided by Peadar O’Brien and Tom Cogan in ideal conditions the group hooked lots of pike, all on the fly but many of them managed to shake the hooks before being netted. The best pike of the session was circa 9kg and gave a real good account of himself. The group were delighted with the day, would have liked to boat a few more fish but got a good flavour of what Irish pike fishing is about.
