A group of French group visited the north east recently to do some trout fishing on the River Boyne with fishing guide Peter Cunningham from Drogheda. The group visited the lower Boyne at Rossnaree and fished with Peter who also assisted them with organizing their fishing on some of their other days.

Fishing was very tough and not a lot of flies were hatching during the day. Some mayfly was still hatching during the day and a few sedge’s were evident during the evening. David Gauduchon described the fishing as quite technical and overcame the difficult conditions by scaling down to a size 20 with a very fine tippet on a tapered leader. Despite the challenging conditions some nice fish were taken in absolutely stunning surroundings.
