Two further fish were reported on Friday, the last day of February. Eddie Roulston had an 8lbs fish from the Blackwater on spinner and Bill Likely had a 6.5lbs fish from the High Bank on rapala.
On Saturday 1st March Mark Kelly had the first March fish of 5lbs from the Eel Weir on spinner and Michael Szabat had a 6.5lbs fish on fly from Scot’s Corner. Some further fish were reported lost on Saturday and Sunday including a fish estimated in the mid teens from the Upper Mill.
On Monday John Parkinson released a fish estimated at 7.5lbs on spinner from the Meadow and on Tuesday I had my first fish of the year from the New Bridge on rapala.
On Wednesday there were a good number of rods out. The morning started mild and dry before turning wet and windy in the late afternoon. One fish was reported today. A 7lbs fish on a 1.5 inch Willie Gunn copper tube from Lennox’s by John O’ Neil.
There are some heavy bands of rain forecast for the coming days and weekend with the outlook for early next week for more settled conditions.
