With the Suir sweeping through the town, Carrick-on-Suir can boast some fine fishing ground. Jimmy Walsh informs me that the Carrick Angling Club is up and running and newcomers are very welcome. No better way to prove the worth of the Suir than with this superb 16lb hen which Jimmy caught last week. Photos below show him releasing the fish safely on its journey upstream. Fishing is very poor due to very low conditions at moment. Carrick-on-Suir & District Angling club is going about 40 years now with 107 salmon member; 25 adult trout and 30 under 16 members . Its the largest club on the Suir and their waters begin at Miloko factory just above tidal water for approx three miles both bank fishing. All Carrick water is good fly and spinning water. Day ticket are available.
