Monday 25th to Sunday 31st August 2014.
The river ran at low levels all week up until Friday when we received a big flood (0.56m). The rain continued over the weekend and gave us good water levels on Saturday (0.38m) & Sunday (0.26m). The gauge average for the week read 0.23 metres. The fishery was busy with 56 visiting rods fishing for the week. There was some 30 salmon caught for the week with the vast majority of these being caught during the good water levels from Friday to Sunday.
Given here are some of the catches taken from the Catch Register. On Monday, Camille Khoury recorded a 3lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 9.
On Friday, Anthony Carr reported a 12lb salmon and a 4lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 3 & 4 with both of these fish being released. Denis Bonnet registered a 5lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 4. Tommy Corr recorded a 3lb grilse caught on a spinner. Bill O’Regan reported a 5½lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 7. Frankie Byrne caught and released a 4½lb grilse on a fly from beat 6. Michael McLaughlin registered 2 grilse weighing 5lb each caught on a fly from beat 6 with one of these being released and Jim McLean accounted for 3 grilse caught on a spinner from beat 8. These weighed 6, 6 & 5lb with one of these being released.
On Saturday, Anthony Carr recorded 2 grilse weighing 4 & 6lb caught and released on a fly from beat 4. Finn McCrory reported 2 grilse caught on a fly from beat 8. Bill O’Regan registered a 4lb grilse caught on a spinner. Otmar Butz reported 2 grilse weighing 2½ & 5lb and a 3lb sea trout caught on a fly from beat 8 with one of the salmon and the sea trout being released and Pierre Rumeau recorded a 5lb grilse caught and released on a fly from beat 5.
On Sunday, Neil Gallagher accounted for a 4½lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 8.
