Upon the realisation they were living in fishing paradise a group of innovative Lithuanian anglers got together and formed the ‘Go & Catch Lithuanian Angling Club’. These innovative lads got together with other like minded anglers and formed a professional club, affiliating with the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland and actively promoting Catch & Release. They regularly hold events at venues across Ireland – here is their report of their 13th outing.
Lithuanian - Lough Oughter (3)On 12th of October 2014 “Go&Catch” Lithuanian fishing club in Ireland held pike fishing competition “Oughter 2014”.
From early foggy morning anglers across the Ireland gathered on the shores of Lough Oughter. It was 13-th competition organized by “Go&Catch” Club. Despite of not lucky “13” number some 77 anglers or 40 teams took part in lure only fishing competition. Which is biggest attended lure fishing comp so far.
Lithuanian - Lough Oughter (2) Weather conditions for pike fishing was excellent! No wind at all, half day thick fog and only about 12 O’clock fog disappeared and the sun started to show herself. Later we knew, that when the sun came up, all pike bites ended… Anyway, in 6 hours 77 anglers caught 138 pike . Which after measuring and taking picture was released back to the lake.
Lithuanian - Lough Oughter (4)Winning “Jackall Team” Rimantas Kondrackas and Mantas Silickas. 17 pike overall length 10.29 meter.
Second place took “Go&Catch” team with Andrius Bikelis and Deividas Firsovas. 12 pike overall length 7.70 meter.
Third place took “Fish Hunters” team with Laimonas Stoskus and Nerijus Jankunas . 12 pike overall length 7.12 meter.
“Longest” 104 cm pike was caught by Deividas Firsovas.
