Alan and Audrey Kells report from Castlehamilton in Killeshandra that they had many french anglers over pike fishing on many loughs in the west and the middle of Co.  Cavan over a number of weeks.  In common with other areas, the pike fishing was very good with all the different groups catching pike to over a metre regularly mainly on lures at many different venues.  A new group of angling visitors  from France that came to Ireland for the first time in the past week to enjoy the fishing for the first time was a group of Foresters who work all over France and the leader of the team Jean Pierre Barus brought a big team to Castlehamilton flying from Bordeaux.   Fishing in teams of boats and guided by Bernard Engle, the Castlehamilton guide, the group enjoyed some spectacular pike fishing despite the mixed cold weather at times and many big pike were caught and released on the trip.  Bernard, who is originally from South Africa is a very good guide and knows the fishing all over Cavan for pike and Trout helped the party recorded 183 pike mainly on lures  in four days fishing with several fish over a metre.   Hopefully the group who were delighted with their wonderful fishing in Co. Cavan will be back to enjoy more of what this great fishing county has to offer.
