Peter Claydon was on a cruiser holiday last week. He reports that the fishing around Carrick on Shannon was patchy but he found a huge amount of pike in the Drumsna area. Peter caught 17 pike overall from 5lb to 27lb. At times the fishing was hectic and one hours fishing he caught 5 pike on spinner and dead baits. The pike fishing is concentrated around the large shoal of roach and rudd that are in the area. Peter was fishing from a Carrick Craft boat and recommends anglers tackle these venues from a boat rather than the shore. Just be sure to keep an eye on the winds as when they are from the north it can make things tricky.
