Pike guides Paul Bourke and Pierre Monjarret are getting some really outstanding pike fishing on Lough Derg recently…
27 May: Paul Bourke reports that it was a stormy day today on the lake, but he still managed to get some big pike.
Casting on shallow water gave the best results and his clients Trevor and Troy both broke their personal best fish. Savagegear 4 play 25 cm pike colour was the killer on the day.
29 May: Lough Derg pike guides day out – Paul Bourke, Pierre Montjarret, Mads Grosell and Cedric Charpentier had 18 fish in the boat. They used their “day off” to search for some new spots to fish and hit the Jackpot.
After giving some jerk and swimbaits a go the results were just a few follows. So they switched to soft lures and got instant results – in the form of 3 double hook ups!
30 May: Pierre was back on the lake today and he had his 60th 1m pike to the boat.
31 May: Blowing hard on Derg today and it was tough going. Paul Bourke found some nice sheltered bays and struck lucky.
All the fish were concentrated on a small shallow with some new weed beds growing around it – Pike heaven.
Line thru trout 20cm and 25 cm 4 play perch colour were the lures that did the damage.
Pierre Monjarret was fishing again and once more he was stuck into some really big fish. This one fell for a wolf tail.
