BONNER BACK IN PIKE TRAINING

One of the country’s top hurlers was back in Westmeath last week on one of his regular angling adventures with pals Gerard Brady and Alex Nickelson of Rochfortbridge. We have featured the lads from time to time in Angling Focus, and they are very keen pike anglers. The “Bonner” was in fine form and banked a few lovely pike and is pictured this week with a 12lbs 3oz cracker. Gerard was also in the thick of the action and landed a lovely pike of 14lbs 7oz on a popped up roach.

FOX CATCHES PIKE

Ronan Fox of Lakepoint here in Mullingar is banking some nice pike in recent times along some of his favorite hot spots on the Royal Canal. Ronan tackled up light and walked for miles along the Royal Canal working small lures that the pike simply could not resist.

This pike that Ronan is holding estimated at around 8lbs hammered his lure just as it came to the bank, and was a very aggressive take. The fish was in great condition, and was returned after a quick photo.
