Angling guide and journalist Mick Flanagan reports:

Reports of a 25lbs cracker from Ree had the specimen hunters pricking up their ears. It’s that time of year some huge pike come from Ree, and our other bigger lakes scattered across Westmeath.

A good double from Ree for Des Howell

The pike was caught by Ciaran Newman and looked every bit of the 25lbs. Unfortunally the photograph is not the best, as the sun bursted through the clouds just as the pic was taken. Local pike expert Barry Darby was also out on Ree in recent days, along with pal Des Howell. The lads had a few lovely high doubles including this super fish Des is holding in one of this weeks photographs.
