Angling Guide and journalist Mick Flanagan reports on the fishing on Lough Owel:

A lot of interest in our magic worms these day that we mentioned last week in Angling Focus. We gave them a run on Owel last Sunday, and the perch sucked them in like sweets. Red, White, and Yellow were the favored colors. Even an Owel trout fancied something different and latched onto a twin tailed yellow worm, fished on a black Jig head. Coming off Owel I met well-known Mullingar angler Gerry Cleary out walking his Springer and showed him my selection of magic rubber worms. I reckon he is still scratching his head.
