Frank Maunsell from the Owenmore Fishery reports that they had a good run of sea trout over the weekend, but the bigger fish are playing hard to get in the cold temperatures…
25 May: We are getting well in to the run of seatrout . We had 30 seatrout in the two lakes over the week end. The majority of them were juniors but we had a couple of fish up to 2 1/2 lbs. There are trout of up to 5 lbs in the system but due to the low temperature from the northerly winds they are not rising. There is rain due on Wednesday and Thursday which will keep the river topped up and hopefully plenty of fresh trout running. Once the temperature rises to June averages we will be getting the big fish.
