Eileen Carroll Murphy from the Inland Fisheries Ireland Office in Macroom reports on many salmon fisheries in the Cork Kerry area.

FOR WEEK ENDED SUNDAY 10TH OF MAY 2015

KILLARNEY LAKES AND LOUGH LEANE
2 salmon weighing 7 lb. each landed on the Middle Lake by locals trolling.  3 salmon landed on the Lower Lake, 2 weighing 5 lb. each and one weighing 6 lb. caught by locals trolling.
KILLARNEY FLESK
3 salmon landed for the week, 2 weighing 5 lb. each and one weighing 7 lb. caught on prawn by Cork Anglers.

LAUNE SALMON AND TROUT ANGLERS’ ASSOCIATION WATERS AND BEAT 3

Angling Report 11th May 

As of Monday the 11th May Laune well up to over 1.6 M on the Laune Bridge gauge about 2 feet 6 inches on the gauge at Johnston’s.  It has just stopped rising.  River in lovely condition for all methods and as it falls it will even get better.
The bad news is that news of fish is very scarce other than a few sea trout being seen. But with the water as it is it has to be worth a try.
Beat 3:           Beautiful water on Beat 3 but the same story there no sign of fish.
Prospects: I think I said this time last year that 2014 would have to be better than 2013 it the same this time, surely 2015 can’t be as bad as 2014.
Permits for Laune Anglers waters from now to the end of July only €25 per day.

RIVER LEE
There was about 12 salmon reported for the week.
RIVER LEE ESB FISHERY
No fishing due to high water levels.
RIVER BANDON
Fishing improved last week with the rise in water there was about 10 salmon reported caught.  There were some nice sea trout too. Two anglers fishing the Association waters had two sea trout weighing 6 lb. and 4 lb. and both were released.
There were no salmon reported from the RIVER ILEN, COOMHOLA RIVER and the OUVANE RIVER
