An update from Ian Powell of the Blackwater Lodge :
The river today with Ballyduff gauge @ 0.84m @ 08.30 & falling. Air temperature: +4ºC at 09.30. Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.6ºC / 47.5ºF @ 08.00.
Water temperatures have been high for the time of year for the last month. This should help encourage fresh fish to move in. High tides will be peaking on Tuesday 3rd. February at 3.80 metres.
Prospects
The weather forecast gives some wintry showers for today, tomorrow & Saturday. Hopefully no great amount of rain. Getting colder as the week goes on. I am still optimistic that it may be fly-fishable on the Opening Day on Sunday.
