And we’re off, the first fish of the Drowes is caught and Angling guide and Fishery manager Shane Gallagher tells us all:

The long wait for the first Drowes salmon of 2015 is over. Brian Mc Clintock from Enniskillen landed a tide fresh fish of 7lbs 7oz from the Cascades just before 11am this morning. The fish took a yellow mepps flying c and was straight off the tide, with a number of long tailed sea lice.
The water is dropping slowly and is now at 0.86 metres on the gauge. Today was mild and overcast, a good fishing day. The forecast is for much colder conditions from tomorrow with strong winds and snow for the north and west on Wednesday night and Thursday.

I would like to thank all the anglers who fished since opening day, in at times very difficult conditions. The permit numbers of those who fished between opening day and today will be entered into a draw for a voucher for the tackle shop and fishery.
