Billy Downes of the Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association reports as of Monday 7th water level is reading .95m at the Laune Bridge or about 1 foot 3 inches. this level is OK for all methods but I would like it to be higher. A good fall of rain would be welcome. While the week was not great it was a considerable improvement on the previous two.

There were fish met each day but in low numbers and few of them were fresh. Billy Downes did land a sea liced fish of 8lbs on Tuesday evening on the fly at the Rock Pool. It was noticeable that the fly seemed to do better than other methods for the week.

Some or our returning European members are now putting in a big angling effort and thankfully they are meeting the odd fish. Fish being met at Johnston’s, Heffernan’s, O’Connor’s and Broderick’s.
Beat 3: There were a few fish met and lost on the Beat for the week. There are fish there in what kind of numbers it’s hard to say but it needs about two feet of water to make it fish well.
Prospects: Hoped it would be better but we live in hope that a few fresh will run into the river over the next six weeks.
