Eileen Carroll reports that the good fishing of the previous weekend fizzled out very quickly even though water levels and conditions were perfect and there was only about a dozen fish reported for the week.

As of early this week the Bandon Angling Association tells us that they have the best summer fishing conditions they’ve had in a couple of years. Peter Aspinwall reported great sport on 21 July with a 9lb fish and Jason Nash had a 5 pounder, both as fresh as daisies. Fly fishing is still proving to be the most productive method.

Go fishing…
The River Bandon is a most scenic and prolific game fishing river flowing through some of the most picturesque country side in West Cork. It’s source is a few miles north west of Dunmanway from where it flows through that town and and on through the villages of Ballineen, Enniskeane, Kilcoleman, Bandon and Innishannon where it become tidal and widens into an estuary before meeting the sea past Kinsale.
