Ambitious expansion plans for Galway Port take “no regard” of climate change, An Taisce has claimed.
Ian Lumley for An Taisce insisted the focus should be on the rising flood and storm risk to Galway city, describing it as the “over-riding concern” for the city in the future.
“This entire process carried out by Galway Port company, a State body, represents complete mis-expenditure and inappropriate use of public money and resources,” he said.
He said the city would be facing rising sea levels and storm conditions and increased rain-fall levels, with Ireland facing a future of increased storm conditions that it will see more regular orange and yellow weather warnings….
