Wicklow Boat Charters report on another increase in Spurdog catches, after a great 2 Months in March – April the Spurs are back in full flight in October.
2 recent trips produced 12 and 25 Spurdogs from different marks, this included specimen fish on each trip. 5 Irish Specimen fish were taken on one day with a fine 19.75lb fish falling to Alan Ball. Alan’s fishing friends John, (Bomber) Stevenson and Jason Byrne added to the tally with 2 specimens each, including a 15.5lb fish and a 17.4lb beauty.
Allesandro’s crew fished another mark recently and landed, and returned, about a dozen fish, 2 of which were Specimen weight. Added to the spurdogs theres still a number of good BullHuss out there, while a few edible size whiting are showing too.
