Arnold Donnelly, IFI reports that the Lough Ree floods are starting to recede. In the last couple of weeks people had reported seeing pike swimming down flooded roads, and fishing has been difficult, due to all this added habitat for all species.

One lucky angler out recently was Padraig Corcoran of Lough Ree Boat Hire, who reported a large pike of 107cm, 23lb 2oz caught in mid Lough Ree on Sunday 10th January.

Almost all slipways were inaccessible until last week, but now water levels have dropping we expect to get more regular reports from this popular venue.

Go fishing…
