Midland Angling  guide and reporter Michael Flanagan reports on some fine Ennell pike:

Colin Russell of Scotland was over last weekend with his wife and daughter, staying in Bloomfield House Hotel. They were part of a strong team competing in the Show Jumping Festival at Mullingar Equestrian Center. Colin managed to get a few hours fishing done as the teams competed, and really was impressed with the Midland lakes. The only down side was he found it very hard to get information on angling from the Bloomfield House hotel staff. Maybe it’s something Hoteliers should look into, and give staff a crash coarse on what’s out their for visiting anglers, and families.

Colin spent a few hours trying to catch an Ennel on dry flies, but did not hook up with any fish. Mind you he did have a few fish come to his fly. We changed tactics and done a bit of pike fishing, and the Ennell pike are certainly hitting the perch fry at the moment. Colin had a cracking pike into the double figures on small perch fry imitations.
