Cian O’Halloran of Absolute Fishing tells us that the Irish Bass Festival is a few weeks away yet, but there are some good fish being caught along the Waterford coast to get you in the mood for a festival frenzy.

There were good reports from the area at the end of May and this trend has continued so far for June. Fishing small paddle tails into a shallow surf in the small hours of the morning. Is working but there are also fish being caught when the sun is up.

If there are any anglers who might think that the odd bass is always possible this photo of a quadruple hook up will soften your cough.

Clive Power also is getting amongst the bass and his 80cm fish from the weekend was a real clonker.

Irish Bass Festival 2016

You’ve missed the registration deadline for this year –  but next year’s competition will be announced soon.

The Irish Bass Festival 2016 will run from 1st -3rd July. This is Ireland’s biggest bass fishing event. The festival is open to all lure anglers, being a lure only event, and will take place along the south coast of Ireland. Anglers are free to roam around and fish wherever they please in search of bass. Anglers get to enjoy a great social weekend and have a taste of the outstanding lure fishing we have along the southern coastline of Ireland which we believe is the “Bass Mecca of Europe” – www.irishbassfestival.com
