Emma Stanely reports on the pike fishing in the Lower Shannon area…

Fine sunny dry days, evenings have been breezy but conditions were good with little to no rain apart from Saturday with heavy showers from early morning which will hopefully improve angling in general.

Meelick, Co. Galway, has been very good for Pike fishing over the week with one Angler reporting 89 Pike landed over 5 days and coarse anglers are doing well with large numbers of Roach, Hybrids and Bream encountered in the area.

There was good Pike angling in the Banagher area and feedback from Anglers has been very positive, all alluded to great fishing with fish up to 83 cm being caught.

Pallas Lake has been showing great potential for future Pike fishing as sizes are up and there is a good abundance of stock with fish from 9lbs to 13lbs reported.
