The Munster Blackwater has been fishing well but the recent heavy rains are likely to spoil the last days of the season…

20 September: 4 fish hooked and 2 landed today at the Ballyduff Bridge Salmon Fishery. Tony Murtagh had one and Billy Fagan also had a lovely fish on the fly. Both fish where returned safely.

22 September: 7 salmon landed today and many more lost at Blackwater Salmon Fishery. Also 13 seatrout were caught. A great day was had by the anglers!
23 September: Nice fresh fish caught by John Clark on the Fortwilliam Fishery today. This is only fish taken out of 15 that John and his party had for the week. Guided by Chris Coady and a super job done. Paul Whealan reports that with only a week to go till end of season it’s going to be a good one. The annual catches well up this season and some great fish have been caught and released safely.
Fort William guide Brian Hennessey is having great sport at the moment – Here he is releasing another salmon #CPRsavesfish
26 September: Some lovely fish caught and returned today on Glenda Powell’s beats at Blackwater Salmon Fishery. Glenda tells us that the heavy rain will bring flood conditions for the next few days and to give her a call if you have booked to fish with her this week +353 87 2351260

Blackwater Salmon Fishery
Blackwater Salmon Fishery has 3 beats downstream of the weir and 2 upstream of the weir. Blackwater Salmon Fishery offers fishing on approximately 5 miles of the river Blackwater. The fishing is spread throughout the middle section of the river to offer good sport throughout the fishing season. Due to the location of the beats, fishing can still usually be offered in low or high water.

Ballyduff Bridge Salmon Fishery
Ballyduff Bridge fisheries control a number of beats of the Munster Blackwater. The Ballyduff Bridge beat is almost a mile long offering a huge variety of water and is particularly suited to fly fishing. Upstream near the village of Ballyhooley (a few miles outside the town of Fermoy, Cork) we have two beats. The Ballincurrig Beat is one of the most beautiful locations along the river and has an excellent piece of fly water flowing into a deep pool. Just downstream on the opposite bank we have a short but productive beat, called Magners. This beat fishes also well in high water.
