Camlin and District Anglers report on their George Wenman memorial competition fished on Lough Forbes…

About to go fishing...
Great turnout

07 January: We held our annual George Wenman memorial competition today on Lough Forbes. It was a crisp bright morning to say the least with the slip way frozen over on arrival. 18 boats fished and there were some great fish caught. There was also a minute’s silence observed at half time in memory of the late Darragh Healy.

Mick with a cracking 100.5cm fish. One of the biggest caught at the competition.

Thanks to Trevor and Mary Tomsette for their continued support and use of their slipway and to the Castle Inn Newtownforbes for the refreshments and providing a warm venue to have our presentations.
The results are as follows (combined lengths);

  • 1st Joe Mc Dermott and Pat Healy 276.5 cm
  • 2nd Emmet Galvin and Brendan Griffith 257.5 cm
  • 3rd Michael and Andrew Dalton 255.5 cm
  • 4th Tommy Doyle and Ben Cusworth 215 cm

Congratulations to Joe Mc Dermott and to Pat Healy who also won the title of this years Fisherman of the year. It was a very close competition again this year and went down to the wire again today. Well done lads.

Our boards now have padding along the edges to protect the fish.

Our next competition will be in February and we hope to have our AGM in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out on Facebook for details.
