Angling guide, Sid Jones reports on some great bass fishing from Wexford…

A good fat bass – just over 60cm

Finally after what felt like the longest winter since time began I finally had a decent opportunity to get among some bass. The recent summer-like weather was matched with decent water temperatures and good clarity. During a brilliant session with a great friend of mine we managed 14 bass, 7 each with two double hook up’s.

Another decent bass – a bit skinnier though

I added another 25 bass to my seasons tally over another few sessions. The bass were ranging in size from small but feisty schoolies up to lean 67cm which was probably after spawning.

The best fish throughout the sessions was a cracking fat 60cm bass. A very thick set fish which outweighed all the others caught.

All fish were released after a quick photo.
