Mick Flanagan reports from the FINIAN DARBY MEMORIAL CUP fished on Lough Derravaragh…
Recently Midland Pike Anglers hosted the Finian Darby Memorial Cup on a very chilly Derravaragh. I teamed up with Pauric Martin of Harbour Court and we had a few nice pike including the winning fish. It was certainly not easy fishing, and rain drifted in from lunchtime and it got very cold. 1st was Mick Flanagan for his pike measuring 87cm, 2nd Paddy Walsh – 84cm, 3rd Des Howell – 69cm, 4th Blane Carbury – 66cm, and 5th Marty Cusworth.
Presentation took place in Murtagh Lounge, where Conor and Susan Murtagh lashed out fantastic finger food, and piping hot Tea and Coffee. Joe McDermott thanked Conor and Susan and all the anglers who competed in the competition now in its 3rd year.
The Finian Darby Memorial Trophy was sponsored by Joe McDermott, and crafted by Ger Dooner of Arva in Co. Longford.
Any clubs looking for something different as presentation prizes can contact Ger Dooner on 086-3213226. Midland pike Anglers are open for membership, and have more competition coming on line in 2019.
