Good numbers of salmon up to 16 lbs. reported from the Moy

The River Moy at Foxford

Kevin O’Boyle reports from the River Moy…

A very cold and dry week with cloudless skies, easterly winds and sunshine didn’t make for the best angling conditions. With inter-county travel permitted from Monday 10th May it is likely that more angling will take place.

Ballina Salmon Anglers reported 4 salmon caught with the biggest caught by John Fitzpatrick for 9.5 lbs.

Foxford Salmon Anglers reported 1 salmon caught for the week.

East Mayo Anglers reported 6 salmon, the heaviest fish weighing 9.5 lbs. caught by Ian Guegan on the fly.  Three of the six salmon were released.

Gannon’s Fishery reported their first 2 salmon of the season. The biggest salmon reported caught on the Moy system so far this year, a stunning 16 lbs. fish was caught by local angler Geoff Wyles on a black Flying C.

The Foxford Fishery got off to a flying start with 6 salmon reported caught during the week. The heaviest weighed 14 lbs. and was caught on a spoon. The others were caught spinning and prawning.
