Ryan from Athy & District Anglers reports on the first match of their 2023 summer league…

10 June: A far better showing from the Canal this match again! Match ran quite late, from 5:15pm to 9:15pm, however most of the catching across the stretch took place in the first ~2 hours. Goes to show how important it is to capitalize on an active swim early!

13 anglers in total are fishing this league, with full attendance for this evening’s match. Draws took place at 4pm and everyone made their way to the bank. A special callout to those anglers that jumped the gun and mounted the bank too early, causing traffic jams. We know who you are ;).

Most of the weight today came from Tench & Hybrids, delighted to see them showing strongly from the canal! The winner however took the victory mostly on roach! Some beautiful fish and great fishing to get so many of them in. Well done to all!

Congratulations to our Winner & Framers:

  1. Colin Oliver – 9lb 6ozs
  2. Tommy – 9lb
  3. Chris – 6lb 9ozs
