Not the finish they were hoping for, but it was a good effort from Team Ireland at the 2nd Feeder Masters World Championships which were held at the Migliarino Channel in Ferrara, Italy last weekend.

The squad members Tony Green, Jack Tisdall, Mark Theedom and Vincent Walsh dropped down from their 7th place at the end of day one to finish in 9th position overall on day two.

Fishing was particularly tough on the second day with the venue at Migliarino producing just 627 fish for the forty competing anglers, less than half the numbers of the first day.

Sectors A and D fished the best with B sector the least productive. It was a chilly week for all and for the smallest squad – with no support on the bank – the logistics of attending meetings, collecting bait and getting to pegs was tiring for everyone.

Congratulations go to the World Champions France, with Silver for England and Bronze for Germany and to England’s Simon Fry the new world champion.
