Kevin Lyons of Melview Lodge reports on a great week’s pike fishing for visitors from Belgium and the UK:
163 Pike for Belgium anglers despite high water levels
Regular anglers from Belgium J.P, Nick, Alain and Johan were over for their third time this year staying with host and guide Kevin from Melview Fishing Lodge in Longford.

When they arrived the water levels were very high, but they were not going to let that put them off of their Pike fishing trip as they had experienced this many times here before in the past.

They managed 163 Pike during their week’s stay. Trolling, casting and dead baiting all produced for them and it finished up a great week for them despite the poor weather conditions. Well done guys and look forward to seeing you again in March 2024.
UK Pike angler Steve over for his second Pike trip this year.
Steve Gilby from the UK was at Melview Fishing Lodge once again for another Pike fishing trip to stay with host and guide Kevin, Steve was last here in February of this year and had a great time when he managed to catch some cracking fish to over 20lb.

This time around the conditions were a little different for him with high water levels, but this didn’t put him off and using deadbaits he managed plenty of pike to 85 / 90 cm. Well done Steve; looking forward to seeing you again in February.

ALL FISH RETURNED UNHARMED.
