After a week that began with blistering sunshine and ended with violent thunderstorms, the Belturbet September Festival, organised by the Belturbet Angling and Conservation Club, came to a close on Friday, September 8th.
Thirty six anglers had taken to the banks of five local lakes – expertly pre baited and pegged in advance of the event – to thrash it out over five days and it was the early leader, John Potters, who improved as the event went on and win outright with over 200lbs by day 5 – a good 50lbs more than the nearest competitor.
Top Five:
- John Potters 202lbs 14oz
- Julian Kendrick 152lbs 03oz
- Stephen Leddy 146lbs 01oz
- Mark Theedom 139lbs 11oz
- Nicky Harrison 127lbs 03oz
The organisers would like to thank the following people:
The Castle Sports & Gastro Bar Belturbet and Church View Guest House B&B Belturbet – thanks both for the continued support.
Irish Bait and Tackle Limited have pulled out all the stops and the Belturbet Festival committee and all of the people who fish in are local area would be lost without them.
Inland Fisheries Ireland without your continued support we could not run these events and with your help in the future we will continue to improve not only match but pleasure angling in our small part of paradise.
Lastly – the landowners who allow access. Without whose continued support it would not be possible to run these events you truly are the hero’s of these festivals and let no one forget it. A Thanks to everyone who has helped and hoping everyone has tight lines all week.
