Liz Dermott from the Irish Ladies Flyfishing Association reports on the Ulster Championships on Lough Sheelin:
.
What a brilliant day at the ITFFA Ulster Championships yesterday (20th April) on Lough Sheelin in Co Cavan for our member Maddy Kelly. Maddy was drawn with Stevie Clarke, who knows the lake well and, more importantly, had been fishing it recently. It’s many years since Maddy fished Lough Sheelin.
.
She finished in 6th place (only six anglers caught fish) and a place on the Ulster team to fish the interpro and the National Final, & took the top ladies’ prize as well. Massive congratulations; exceptional angling skills.
Maddy Kelly will be representing Ireland along with the rest of the Irish Ladies Team at the Ladies Four Nations Flyfishing Championship in Wales next month on Llyn Brenig.
This will be Maddy’s 23 Cap for Ireland, some achievement.
