Peter is back with a weekly round up from Piscari-Fly…

How’s The Fishing?

The sun is finally here, summer is so welcome. Time to blow the cobwebs off those rods and get out on the water as often as possible. Glad to be back on the water ourselves, Peter got out on the Kings for a few hours on Monday. The water levels are starting to drop down nicely even though its not quite there yet it is definitely close to great fishing levels. The fish were a little off probably due to all the recent floods, you had to work for them, not quiet pushed up into the runs yet, but there is some good fishing to be had there.

Reports from around the country is that there is fishing to be had, so try get out on the water and enjoy it while you can. We don’t know how long it will last.

Congratulations to Brian Conway for winning the ITFFA Leinster Lake Qualifiers on Lough Owel last Saturday. Brian caught a 10pound 3 oz trout on one of the piscari-fly buzzers we tied for him earlier on in the season. Delighted to see Brian do well. Great fish to be caught on a very difficult day. Congratulations to all the prize winners on the day and those who qualified for the Leinster team.

Great to get to spend the day with the Leinster youths on Saturday for the Leinster River qualifiers. A big thanks to the Deen and Dinan for hosting. Greta to see the young lads out there enjoying themselves, showing off there skills and catching some nice fish. the winner on the day was Evan McMickan, second was Killian Brady and James Hope was 3rd. It’s always great to work with the youths and give something back and see the next generation coming up. It’s always hard to get youths outdoors and involved in something like fishing so its important for all anglers to give back and to encourage and support those young fisherpeople.

Some great feedback from our Venator rod owners. Peter Wadding was out on the Avonmore this week had some lovely fishing on it. Very impressed with the rod. Peter Driver himself got out too and gave it its first real good use He was out with Dave O’Donovan there on Monday. They are starting to get out on the water now and getting some good action. Ricky Croke got out on the Nore too with some lovely fish caught. Make sure if you are at the Irish Spring Angling Fair that you have get a feel of it.

Mark was fishing in his home waters in Wicklow. Delighted to be out. This time he fished the Aughrim and found the hares ear nymph with chartreuse hot spots worked best and also some rainbow microglint perdigones.

Don’t forget to get in touch if you need anything for the season [email protected].
