The Clare Dragoon is back fishing, and skipper Luke Aston is back with his regular reports, which we’ve missed over the last few months!
The first full day back involved an early mission to target the sixgill sharks that Luke has found over the last few years. A stop for bait produced some fine mackerel and plenty of coalfish at Loop Head, with a few nice pollack showing too. Unfortunately the sharks didn’t turn up on the day, but they finished with a few species, including some good bull huss to 14lbs.
A couple of days later, with the good weather upon us, they headed out to some offshore reefs. Mackerel were plentiful and of a great size too, and the reefs produced a steady catch of pollack and coalies.
Go fishing…
